Background & Rationale: The District's leadership team is proposing to continue the partnership with The Leadership and Learning Center for the purpose of providing high quality professional development that will result in improved student achievement.

This partnership will assist the District in creating a specific plan focused on increasing student achievement through the use of standards, leadership, data-driven decision making, and accountability. Specifically, the work will begin with Dr. Doug Reeves, author of Making Standards Work and many other books and articles on leadership and organizational effectiveness. On August 9, 2011, Dr. Reeves will meet with administrators as well as an instructional team at a breakfast meeting. He will outline the research and process during this time. Following that meeting, Dr. Reeves will address all instructional staff in the District. In seven (7) follow up work sessions throughout the next year, consultants from The Center and instructional teams will work together to ensure fidelity to the process and achievement of the desired outcome. With our established work in data collection and review, we will focus this professional development opportunity on the use of data and other proven research in quality instruction and make the next logical step in improving student achievement.

This work is researched based, supported by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (Dr. Reeves is contracted by the state department for similar work.), and in line with the sequence of professional development needed to continue our mission to Achieve the Exceptional.
Budget to be Charged: 803 - District Professional Development Funds
