Background & Rationale: After having 1 to 1 Chromebook devices for PK-1 for the 2020-2021 school year, the instructional team determined that touchscreen devices are necessary to meet curriculum needs. It was also determined that PK-1 no longer needed 1 to 1 devices. Instead, K-1 will return to the pre-COVID device ratio of a classroom set per grade level per building, allowing enough devices for each classroom to have a station of touchscreen Chromebooks. PK will have move from having a single student workstation per classroom to also having enough devices for a station of devices.

In March 2021, the district issued an RFP for Lenovo devices through March 2022. The bid was awarded to CDWG. This bid request contained the touchscreen Chromebook needed for PK-1. The district has determined that 640 touchscreen Chromebooks would be purchased for a total of $202,995.20.

Due to supply chain constraints, it was determined that these devices needed to be purchased immediately as an emergency purchase in order to receive them for the 2021-2022 school year. CDWG had enough of these devices in stock, but could not guarantee when another shipment would be possible once the stock was depleted as the global supply market is not stable.
Budget to be Charged: Technology
Motion: I move that the Board approve the emergency purchase of Lenovo 300e Touchscreen Chromebooks for PK-1 from CDWG in the amount of $202,995.20.
